Meet Robert Hay, Instructor for Presbyterian Foundation on May 17

Robert Hay, Jr. is a Ministry Relations Officer from the Presbyterian Foundation based in Atlanta, GA covering the area of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, and Puerto Rico.  Hay received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Auburn University and his Masters of Public Administration with a Nonprofit Management concentration from Georgia State University. 

Hay began his career as a business analyst and consultant with a large consulting firm primarily working with telecom companies such as BellSouth, AT&T, Sprint, and Nextel.  Hay felt a calling to the nonprofit sector in 2006 and served as the CFO of two nonprofits before joining the Presbyterian Foundation in 2012.  Hay currently serves on the board of two Atlanta nonprofits.

Hay is an ordained Ruling Elder and has served the PCUSA in a variety of ways.  Hay served on the Mid Council Commission of the 219th General Assembly and currently serves as a trustee for the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta and serves as the Treasurer of the Emory Presbyterian Campus Ministry board.  Hay has served in a variety of roles at Montreat Conference Center, Presbytery of Greater Atlanta, Presbytery of Sheppards and Lapsley, and in several congregations. 

Hay is married to Rev. Morgan Hay who serves St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tucker, GA.  Hay attends St. Andrews along with their 2 children, son Stockton and daughter Anderson.   Hay enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and watching college football (War Eagle!).

Meet Heather Parker, Keynote Speaker for May 16

Heather Parker has been the Foundation Representative at Westminster Woods for 7 years. Her position serves the WRC Foundation in two capacities: Development Officer and Church Relations Coordinator.  Heather graduated Clemson University with a major in Psychology and a double minor in Philosophy and Religion.

Ms. Lori Patterson, Panelist for Legal Matters

Main Biography

Ms. Patterson is a member of Rogers Towers’ Labor and Employment Department. Her practice is focused on the areas of labor and employment law and employment-based immigration law representing management. She handles the processing of non-immigrant visas, which include H-1B, B-1, L-1, J-1, F-1, E-2, O-1, P-1, R-1 and TN visas. She also handles permanent residency cases from labor certification, to the immigrant visa petition, to adjustment of status or consular processing. Ms. Patterson regularly counsels companies on a wide range of business immigration issues, including employment verification and I-9 compliance.
Ms. Patterson also handles a broad range of labor and employment law cases before federal and state courts and a variety of administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Wage and Hour Division and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. A large part of her practice consists of the day-to-day counseling of companies on employment issues prior to litigation or government agency involvement. Her expertise covers employment discrimination and harassment claims, retaliation claims, non-competition disputes, wage and hour issues and affirmative action plans.

Rev. Dr. Tom Walker, Worship Leader for APA Conference

Meet Rev. Dr. Tom Walker, Pastor of Palms Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville Beach. 

Tom was born and adopted in Raleigh, North Carolina.  At the age of two, he moved to Montgomery, Alabama, where his family remained until the early 1990’s.
 
After graduating cum laude from Davidson College in 1984, Tom earned a Master of Divinity with distinction degree in 1989 from Columbia Theological Seminary.  He was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament, PC (USA) in December of that year.  Princeton Theological Seminary awarded Tom his Doctorate in Old Testament Studies in 1997.

Tom has always had a passion for both the parish and the academy.  He has taught masters and doctoral level courses at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis and Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur. His study of “Luke” was published in 2000 by Geneva Press Interpretation Bible Studies.  Tom served as the Associate Pastor/Theologian-in-Residence at Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana between 1993 and 2002. 

Rev. Dr. Tom Walker accepted the call of Palms Presbyterian Church in June, 2002. 
Tom has served in Presbytery and General Assembly level work for the PC (USA) He served on the Core Cluster of the Reforming Ministry Group of the PC (USA), a five year examination of ecclesiology and the mission of the church, and the Ethics Committee of Beaches Baptist Hospital.       

Tom also serves on the Clinical Practice Quality Committee at the Mayo Clinic and is on the Board of Columbia Theological Seminary, where he served as chair of the Vision 2020 task force. 

Tom and his wife, Jan, live in Ponte Vedra with their sons, Worth and Chris.

Mr. T. Clark Simmons, Keynote Speaker for the Board of Pensions

Clark is the regional representative for the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (USA) serving the Synod of South Atlantic and part of the Synod of Living Waters.  Prior to joining the Board, he served the church as the Director of the Capital Campaign and Church Relations at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA.  He is a ruling elder in Atlanta and has participated at every level of the church’s life.  Before joining Columbia, he developed and carried out marketing plans and customer development for UPS in Atlanta.  Clark graduated from Belhaven College in Jackson, MS with a major in business administration.

Meet Clay Meux, Attorney and Shareholder of Rogers Towers Law Firm in Jacksonville, FL.  Mr. Meux  focuses his practice on representing clients throughout Florida in elder law, estate planning, wills and trusts, probate litigation and administration, guardianship litigation and administration, and real estate and commercial matters. A native of Jacksonville, Mr. Meux earned his J.D. from Stetson University and his B.A. from Jacksonville University. Mr. Meux was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1994.
